【 Summary 】Acceleration of Global Commercialization of Ferric-Sulfur Flow Battery.
Recently, the 2025 "Chuyun Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted by the National New Energy Storage Innovation Center in collaboration with the government and leading industry institutions, concluded successfully in Guangzhou. As a benchmark event in the new energy storage sector, the competition brought together top universities and leading enterprises such as South China University of Technology and China Southern Power Grid. After successive rounds of selection and competition from the sub-stations in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Xi'an to the Guangzhou finals, 30 prominent achievements were selected from numerous global entry projects, covering key areas of the entire industry chain including smart grids, hydrogen energy, and battery energy storage. ZH Energy won the third prize in this elite competition with its "High-Safety and Low-Cost Ferric-Sulfur Flow Battery" project, demonstrating its technical strength once again.

The entry project of ZH Energy centers on the core technology of ferric-sulfur flow batteries, with its core breakthroughs in:
Ultimate Economic Efficiency: By utilizing bulk chemical raw materials such as sulfur and iron, the electrolyte cost is only 1/10 of that of all-vanadium flow batteries. Upon large-scale production, the initial system installation cost is expected to be below 1 CNY/Wh, and the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) over the entire life cycle can be as low as 0.1 CNY/kWh, significantly outperforming current mainstream energy storage technologies.

Intrinsic Safety: The aqueous electrolyte system poses no combustion or explosion risks, requires no cooling system, and is suitable for complex scenarios such as high temperature and high humidity. It has been verified by a State Grid demonstration project and has been in operation for half a year.
Leading Performance: With a current density of 120mA/cm² and an energy efficiency exceeding 73%, the megawatt-hour scale demonstration project will be implemented in 2026, accelerating the commercialization process.

This award is another important recognition recently received by ZH Energy ferric-sulfur flow battery technology. Previously, this technology was selected into Tencent's "Carbon Quest Plan 2.0" Global Top 50 and became the only Chinese enterprise among the nominated projects for the European Long-duration Energy Storage Award.Against the backdrop of the surging global demand for long-duration energy storage (over 4 hours), ferric-sulfur flow batteries, with their outstanding advantages of low cost and high safety, are highlighting their unique value in large-scale applications on the power generation side and grid side. Currently, ZH Energy is accelerating the commercialization of this technology to embrace the vast opportunities in the global market.
